Theatre Entrance

We are currently undergoing redevelopment works that will transform our front of house King Street entrance into a welcoming, access friendly community space that everyone will be able to enjoy.

You are now invited to enter the Theatre via our temporary entrance at stage door, walking the footsteps of such legends as Peter O'Toole, Daniel Day Lewis and Miranda Richardson.



Bristol Temple Meads railway station is a 15 minute walk to Bristol Old Vic or there are regular buses and taxis from outside the station to the city centre. There is also a ferry which runs from the railway station into the City Centre. Bristol Bus Station is a 20 minute walk away. Bristol is undergoing some changes to public transport which may affect your journey to the theatre, so please check the latest updates on Travel West.

By Foot

To access our new Theatre entrance, continue to the end of King Street turining left onto Queen Charlotte Street and left again onto Rackhay (BS1 4HJ). Bristol Old Vic is located on King Street, a 5 minute walk from the City Centre.


There are bike racks available on King Street and also Prince Street.

By Car

From the M32 onto A4032 follow signs to City Centre, you will reach traffic signals on the A4044, turn right onto Bond Street still following signs to City Centre. At St James Barton roundabout take the first exit signposted City Centre keep in left hand lane, follow road left onto Baldwin Street. Turn right onto Queen Charlotte Street and an NCP car park will be on your left after the zebra crossing. For more information on drop-off, click here.

Car Parking

There are good parking facilities in the surrounding area including, the NCP on Queen Charlotte Street (opposite) and Trenchard Street car park, a 5 minute walk across the city centre. Meter parking is also available on King Street and Queen Square. There is one disabled space right outside the Theatre. Blue Badge Holders park for free.

Please book Taxis for drop-off and pick-up to Bristol Old Vic, King Street, BS1 4ED. Your taxi should drop you off on King Street from where you can follow our signs to the Rackhay stage door entrance just around the corner.


There is space for two coaches to set down and pick up in front of The Rackhay around the corner from King Street. The closest coach park is near the M Shed museum (access off of Cumberland Road) with a fee of £1.10 for up to 24 hours (do check this before setting off). Read about coach parking in Bristol
